Parts United Marine & Offshore respects the privacy of all users of its website and ensures that the personal information you provide to us is treated confidentially. We use your data to process orders as quickly and easily as possible. We will only use your data for other purposes with your consent.
This privacy statement complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applies to all activities of Parts United Marine & Offshore. By using the services offered by Parts United Marine & Offshore, you agree to the terms set out in this statement.
Legal bases for processing
We process personal data on the basis of the following legal grounds:
- Performance of a contract - for example when processing orders and delivering products.
- Legal obligations - such as tax and accounting retention requirements.
- Legitimate interest - such as customer service, security and improving our services.
- Consent - for example for marketing and the placement of non-functional cookies.
Parts United Marine & Offshore uses the collected data to provide its customers with the following services:
- When you place an order, we need your name, email address and delivery address to fulfil your order and keep you informed of its progress.
- To make your shopping experience at Parts United Marine & Offshore as pleasant as possible, we store, with your consent, your personal data and data relating to your orders and use of our services. This allows us to personalise the website and recommend items that may be of interest to you.
- With your consent, we use your data to inform you about website developments and special offers and promotions. If you no longer wish to receive these, you can let us know by sending us an email or by adjusting your preferences in your account.
- If you create an account at Parts United Marine & Offshore, we store your data. In your Parts United Marine & Offshore account, we store information such as your name and address, telephone number (if provided) and email address, so that you do not have to enter these details with every order. More information about the retention period can be found below under Retention periods.
- Data about the use of our services and the feedback we receive from our visitors help us to further develop and improve our website.
Email communications and external processors
For sending emails, such as order confirmations and invoices, we use external service providers. These parties process personal data on our behalf, such as email addresses, names and the content of email messages, insofar as this is necessary for the correct delivery of these messages.
We strive to limit the amount of personal data in email messages and refer to a secure environment where possible.
Personal data processed by these service providers may in some cases be stored or processed outside the European Economic Area. In such cases, we ensure appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable legislation, such as the use of standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
Parts United Marine & Offshore does not sell your data and treats it confidentially
Parts United Marine & Offshore will not sell your personal data to third parties and will only make it available to third parties involved in fulfilling your order. These include delivery partners, product support, payment providers, IT service providers and parties that collect our reviews. Our employees and the third parties we engage are required to respect the confidentiality of your data, and we have concluded contracts in accordance with European Union regulations. If law enforcement agencies or other official bodies demand access to personal data on legal grounds, Parts United Marine & Offshore may comply with such requests.
In addition, we use external parties for hosting, IT management, email communications and analytics, among other things. These parties process personal data exclusively on our behalf and on the basis of data processing agreements.
Retention periods
To protect your privacy as effectively as possible, we have taken appropriate measures. We do not store or use your data for longer than necessary. After that, we delete all data we hold about you, or we anonymise your data because we need certain data for internal analyses and reports, such as the value of your order. In practice, this means the following:
Orders placed with account creation
When you place an order at Parts United Marine & Offshore and choose to create an account, your account will be retained for 5 years after your most recent order. After this period, the account will be anonymised. This means that your personal data such as name, email address, telephone number and address details will be removed. If you only create an account and never place an order, it will also be automatically deleted after 5 years.
Each order you have placed through your account will be anonymised after 12 months. You will, of course, still be able to view the products you ordered within your secure environment after these 12 months.
Orders placed without account creation
When you place an order at Parts United Marine & Offshore and choose to check out without creating an account, your order details will be retained for up to 30 days after completion of the order. This is necessary for correct order processing, any questions regarding the order and possible returns. After this, your personal data in the order will be anonymised.
Email communications
Data related to email communications is retained for a limited period and no longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was processed. This means that email data and associated metadata may in some cases be temporarily stored by our email service providers.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. These include the use of secure connections (SSL/TLS), access restrictions and secure data storage.
